European Mentoring and
Coaching Council (EMCC)

The European Mentoring and Coaching Council (EMCC) has been established to promote best practice and ensure that the highest possible standards are maintained in the coach/mentoring relationship, whatever form that might take, so that the coach/mentoring environment provides the greatest opportunity for learning.

The EMCC Executive Board established a Standards and Ethics Committee with the following remit:

1. Determine the field and define what we mean by "standards".


2. Delineate best practice in the field and communicate it widely.


3. Set standards for coach/mentoring activities.


4. Establish a valid code of ethics for coach/mentoring.


5. Liaise and co-operate with other bodies in the coach/mentoring field to ensure that the achievement of the above is an inclusive process


6. Review and present options for accreditation against the standards agreed by the EMCC.

Peter Bluckert is the Chair of this committee which comprises members from many of the leading coaching consultancies in Europe.
